Quarry OnSite visits the quarry to identify unused or discarded stones with the right characteristics for climbing, including ideal size, natural texture and features, and minimal signs of quarry alteration. Suitable candidates are not always obvious, as many lie flat or rest in positions not naturally suited for vertical use. Once a promising block is found, we conduct a detailed 3D scan to capture its exact form. Design The 3D scan is inserted into software to produce an accurate virtual model where we can orient and manipulate the boulders to find the optimal composition for ideal climbing, route potential, stability, and ease of installation. Installation The rocks are transported from the quarry to the site and fitted with lifting anchors so that they can be stacked up to the desired heights. After stacking, an assessment is made to determine if any large chunks need to be removed due to misalignments, unwanted features, loose rocks, etc. The rocks are also assessed for the quality and grade distribution of the pre-existing lines. Lastly, the rocks are sculpted to ensure quality routes at the intended grade distribution.
